Many years ago, I had a healthy seven pound one ounce girl—a natural birth without an epidural or pain medication of any kind. I was twenty-one years young and in peak physical health. I felt it was a blessing, but I must add that she did not come with a training manual. Many women, fathers and pediatricians gave advice, but I wish there would have been a simple easy-to-follow baby book given to all parents in every country. I searched for a simple step-by-step book on how to be a nurturing, loving, focused parent—guidelines on how to enjoy the baby, even with the pooping, drooling, screaming, laughing, and crying that came along with the new human. All the books were long winded and written mostly by doctors, not moms or dads.
In July of 2010, my sister and her husband heard the exciting news they were going to have triplets. They already had a 3year old son and lived in a small home, with 2 small cars. They did not use fertility and were very stunned by the news.
Four months later I was pregnant. Surprise!! I was 34years young and my healthy son was born in late 2011. My mom went from two grand kids to six grandchildren. What a thrill for us all.
While taking care of these breastfed newborn triplet angels, I developed simple methods of staying joyous when giving excellent infant care. When my son arrived at the end of August 2011, one more baby fit in the daily routine of diaper changing, feedings, burping, swaddling and rocking with no problem. Breast feeding was tricky, because one baby would always start to cry before Sebastien could finish his feeding. I wished I had four arms during those moments.
I feel very qualified to write this book, thanks to my two loving, honest, independent, positive, healthy children, I hope it makes you laugh and helps make your life easier, whether you have 1 baby or multiple’s. Many Thanks, MKC
